Desert, Plant and Animal Protection
The Osoyoos Golf Course is home to several desert conservation areas. The South Okanagan is known as the Antelope-brush shrub-steppe, a semi-arid desert with diverse species and is home to 100 at-risk plant species and nearly 300 rare insects. While enjoying a round of golf, keep an eye out for the diverse wildlife that shares the course. Along the way, you may encounter birds, deer, coyotes, snakes, and many other creatures. We have established “do not enter” zones to minimize disturbances and protect this fragile ecosystem. Our efforts help maintain balance and combat threats from invasive species. To reduce herbicide use and control weeds, we remove dead sagebrush and carefully manage irrigation. Where wind complicates water application, we convert areas to maintainable turf.
